The Amiga’s Foundation proudly hosts an annual gala in celebration of Friendship Day, an Azorean tradition that has united groups of friends for over 100 years.
What began within our local Portuguese community—when seven remarkable women came together to raise awareness and funds for hospital equipment at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, a facility supported entirely by community dollars—has grown into a legacy of generosity and impact.
Over the years, the gala has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide essential medical equipment for Cambridge Memorial Hospital. In recent years, proceeds from the silent auction have also supported Nutrition for Learning, a program that ensures access to healthy food in schools.
The Amiga’s Foundation is more than just an organization—it is a testament to the power of femininity, resilience, and unity. It is a movement that inspires change, driven by the passion of extraordinary women who make it all possible.

The Portugal Day Association is comprised of dedicated community members who organize an annual parade and series of cultural events, customarily held on a Saturday near June 10th. This date marks the passing in 1580 of Luís de Camões, Portugal’s revered poet and national literary figure, whose legacy is celebrated by Portuguese communities across the globe.
The parade stands as a proud tribute to Portuguese culture, heritage, and national identity, commencing with a procession through the city’s downtown core, followed by a dignified flag-raising ceremony in Queen’s Square, and concluding with festivities at the Oriental Sport Club.
